The early part of Genesis is an incredible book. It lays down the principles of God. If we could understand Genesis we would understand most of the ways of life and be pre-informed of what to expect and have much greater efficiency.
Our knowledge of God makes us all know that the Bible is His book, for He loves using it to tell us about Himself.
Whereas fully accepting that the Bible is true, our understanding of the Bible could be wrong. The important thing is that we know God, love Him and are lead by Him. When we get to heaven and have all things explained to us, if we were wrong about things in the Bible, will it matter, or will we be enjoying His love too much to care?
We should mention a little bit about the devil here, because it seems that as the Universe was being made there was a war in heaven. A favoured angel named Lucifer became proud of himself and wanted to control heaven. One third of the angels followed him and were cast out by the angel Michael and the other two thirds. These fallen angels became devils. For every one devil there are two angels to look after us. Three of the scriptures which show this war areRevelation 12v3 And there appeared another wonder in heaven. And behold, a great red dragon having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads, and his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven and did cast them to the earth and there was war in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon fought and his angels and prevailed not, neither was their place found any more in heaven. And the great dragon was cast out. That old serpent called the Devil, and Satan, which deceives the whole world. He was cast out into the earth and his angels were cast out with him." (For every one devil there are two angels to protect you). Isaiah 14v12. How has thou fallen from Heaven oh Shining One,Son of the Dawn. Hewn down to the earth oh crusher of nations. Yet thou did say in thy heart, The Heavens will I ascend. Above the stars of God will I lift up my throne that I might sit in the Mount of Assembly, in the recesses of the North: I will mount on the hills of the clouds. I will match the Most High. Howbeit, to Hades shall thou be brought down, To the recesses of the pit. They that see thee upon thee shall gaze. Upon thee will thoughtfully muse, Is this the man who startled the earth Who terrified kingdoms Who made the world like a desert and its cities break down But thou art flung out from thy grave like an outcast, detested. Luke 10v18 I was beholding Satan, when, like lightning out of heaven, he fell.
"In the beginning of the present order of things, the Godhead cut out the heavens above and the earth below. Now the earth had become waste, confused, frightened, wild, furious and angry, all in utter chaos (probably because of a previous catastrophe), and darkness was on the face of the roaring deep, but the Spirit of God was brooding, with quickening effect, on the face of the waters, and, such being the state of the earth, God said ....
V7 Note that as things move away from God in the Bible, they travel East. East in the Bible does not mean our East. The ancient Hebrews did not know of N and S poles. The interpreters have kept the root of the words, (left hand=West and ahead=North). The old Hebrew compass points were usually taken from the Great Sea, (The Mediterranean Sea), which was their South. (Wise men from the East were probably from Alexandria in Egypt, to the South of Jerusalem). In the Song of Solomon she says "Let the South winds blow on my garden". The South winds were hot, killing winds from the Negeb desert, but their South was from the Mediterranean (our West), which brought rain laden clouds which watered and brought life to her garden.
This Earth is a beautiful planet in a galaxy that we call the Milky Way.The Milky Way is approximately 100,000 light years from one side to the other and contains an estimated 100,000,000,000 stars of which our sun is one.The nearest galaxy to the Milky Way is 2.6 million light years away. There are many thousands of galaxies in our cluster of Galaxies;and there are billions of clusters of Galaxies in the Universe.
But God loves this little earth.......
and God loves us.
The Universe is a huge amount of rocks, and gas, and fire and ice, but if we think of the universe in terms of LIFE, or LOVE then this little earth suddenly becomes a massive place, teeming with life. There is more life in one blade of grass than there is in the whole of the known universe. There is more love in every village than any planet we know of., other than our own. The God of Love looks on our hearts and knows that there is no where else He would rather be.

Look in the mirror, and see yourself as a light (Gen 1v14)And God said "Let there be lights in the firmament of heaven to divide the day from the night..and let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth..and God set us in the heavens to give light upon the earth. This is what you are. You might be only a little light, but he was speaking of you.......It is true.
