Genesis Chapter 3

A thrilling translation is given in the ‘Land and the Book’ by A.R. Morton

"Boast not of your triumph over a feeble woman, proud deceitful spirit.
You shall be overthrown and reduced to the most abject degradation.
The seed of this feeble victim of your treachery shall yet plant his heel upon your accursed head and make you bite the dust."

SACRIFICE

God said to the woman that if she ate of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil she would die.

The serpent told her that if she ate of the tree she would not die, and the woman was confused.

Wanting to be wise she believed the serpent and ate the forbidden fruit,

but she did not die.

God had, apparently, been wrong.

She took the fruit to the man and told him what had happened.

The man saw her and knew that her soul and spirit had died, but her body was still alive.

Her soul and spirit was dead towards God.

She could see God in a beautiful sunset, or in the blossom on the trees, but she was not interested in God and did not want to know Him or love Him. Her heart was dead.

Knowing all this, the man ate the fruit,
possibly because he did not want to be different from her,
or that he loved her more than he loved God.

They, then, made 'aprons' to hide the flesh that should have died.

When God found out He made the first sacrifice, and covered the flesh that should have died with the flesh of a sacrificed animal.

The soul and spirit remained dead towards God but the flesh was saved by sacrifice.

Sacrifice is a simple replacement. (Animal flesh for human flesh).

Sacrifice must obey certain rules.

It must be instituted by God. (The Lamb of the Passover worked until Jesus died).

It must be pure - without spot or wrinkle. The lambs were all inspected for flaws before they were sacrificed.

The guilty person must accept that he is guilty and accept the sacrifice.

It was most important that Jesus was pure and sinless for His sacrifice to work.
When He died, not only His flesh died, but His soul and spirit died as well.
When He was resurrected then,
if we accept His sacrifice, the death of our old life,
the death of our heart with its earthly desires,
death of our old soul,
death of our personality
death of our old spirit
and if we accept the new life that He wants us to have,
then our body, soul and spirit will be resurrected with Him.

We remain in our old body until it dies, but can have, the resurrected soul and spirit, here on earth just as God wants, because He sacrificed Himself for us.
Sometimes He makes us a little bit similar to the person we were before, but it is all under His Lordship
Being under His Lordship makes all the difference. The Cancer of selfishness has gone

In order to bring ourselves into this we have to
(1) Want to die,
(2) Want the new life
(3) Accept the new life that He gives us
(4) Renew our memories away from the habit of the past. (This may take a while).
(5) Be lead by the Holy Spirit.

God has given us all things, richly to enjoy. But we need to get rid of the 'Cancer' that we are born with in our first birth.

"A NEW HEART ALSO WILL I GIVE YOU
AND A NEW SPIRIT PUT WITHIN YOU
AND I WILL TAKE AWAY THE STONY HEART FROM OUT OF YOUR FLESH AND I WILL GIVE TO YOU A HEART OF FLESH
A NEW HEART"
