Notes on Exodus

Moses mother (Jochebed) Laid the ark with the baby in it 'in the flags by the river's brink'.. (Heb 'by the lip of the river) so that the river would not carry the ark away.

Miriam was hiding in the reeds and agonizing - praying her heart "Oh God, Oh God, Oh God. Please do not let them find the baby. Please do not let them find the baby."

Moses Life
40 years thinking he was somebody.
40 years learning he was a nobody.
40 years discovering what God can do with a nobody

(Ex 33v18) Note that Moses did not see God - Face to Face - until Jesus came.

Note that God chooses Aaron to speak for Moses as if He was pleased to do so. Aaron was only the mouthpiece. It was Moses that God honoured. So it is in the Church. It is not what we say that matters but who we are. A lot of churches have very able preachers but it is God that gives that increase. People can be very impressed with our strength and abilities but no-one actually gets 'Born Again' until God responds. and He does not respond to effort in churches unless in those churches there are people with lives that are broken to His will. We have to decrease in order for God to do what he wants to do. Do not be worried with the breakings of God in you. it is only so that He can move by getting you out of the way.

Note that the Mount of God is at the backside of the desert. (Ex 3v1).

There seems to be a lot of wrong preconceived ideas about the actual story in Exodus.

The ark that Moses was put in - had a lid on it.

And the Lord spake unto Moses - "Say unto Aaron 'Take thy rod and stretch out thine hand upon the waters of Egypt - upon their streams - upon their rivers (heb - Canals) and upon their ponds and upon their pools of water that they might become blood" - it was Aaron that did this - not Moses, and Aaron must have travelled from stream to stream and pool to pool stretching out his hand with his rod in it to turn the waters to blood. If he did not stretch forth his hand then the waters did not turn to blood.

Note that the children of Israel were in bondage when they walked out of Egypt. As they followed God then GOD destroyed their bondages. Do not be too hard on young Christians who are following God but are in bondage. Seek God.
